Kalé Akté- Bella Costa was the name Ducezio gave to the current Caronia in 446 BC, enchanted by the view from its height that extends beyond the Aeolian Islands. Kilometers of unaltered coastline between Capo d'Orlando and Cefalù, villages of historical interest, art, natural wonders and food and wine excellence in an area of Sicily that is still authentic and untouched by mass tourism. During the Roman Empire, Caronia was an important agricultural and commercial center, later abandoned by its inhabitants who moved to the sea, where today's Caronia Marina is located, just as, in more recent years, the historic center was abandoned in favor of emigration to northern Italy and abroad. A historic center developed around the castle (still perfectly preserved, built by the Normans) that recalls the passage of the Saracen Pirates, the Greeks, the Romans and winds through small streets and stone walls, in days of lively village life and nights of silence caressed by the sound of the sea.
